About us

Welove2ski.com is an independent website run by British ski writers, and aimed primarily at the British skiing public.

We are most definitely not one of those BUY! BUY! BUY! sites, where every resort in the world is brilliant, and even a week in Bulgaria is worth seven hundred quid. Our aim is to create an unbiased, BS-free environment, powered by our love of skiing, and informed by our many years on the slopes. Hopefully, in doing so, we'll inspire our readers to add their own advice and experiences too. And then - hey presto - we'll have ourselves a living, breathing online community.

Founding Editor: Sean Newsom

Sean always used to resign when he came back from skiing holidays. "First day back in the office, I'd sit down, and suddenly I couldn't bear it anymore," he remembers. "So I did the only sensible thing, and made a job out of skiing." Actually, he snowboards as well as skis, and has written about both in the British press for 15 years. For the last eight years, he's been the ski editor of The Sunday Times.

Editor: Peter Hardy

A former co-author of Hardy's Skiing & Snowboarding Guide, Peter is the Ski Correspondent of The Daily Telegraph and the Daily Mail. He describes himself as a ski gypsy - visiting around 40 resorts each season in the course of his work ("Well, someone has to do it, so it might as well be me"). Peter has skied since he first went to Lech as a child on a family holiday and has since been to some 500 resorts around the world. He remains completely obsessed by snow.

Editor: Felice Hardy

Felice first put on a pair skis in Switzerland at the age of four and became so hooked that she was obliged to make her living out of it. She was co-author of Hardy's Skiing & Snowboarding Guide for more years that she cares to remember, and writes for most of the national newspapers and lifestyle magazines. When not skiing she writes about her unusual adventures, which include kayaking around Manhattan, white-water rafting along the Ganges, abseiling off the top of Table Mountain in Cape Town, jumping off waterfalls in Hawaii, and paragliding in Zermatt.

Publisher: Jay Nagley

Jay is a huge skiing enthusiast who's been a contributor to Where to Ski and Snowboard, a ski tester for the Daily Mail Ski and Snowboard Magazine and recently became a Canadian-qualified ski instructor. So if you see an English-speaking instructor on the slopes who looks too tall, too lanky and too old for the job - then it's probably him.

News editor: Roger Bray

Roger is an award-winning journalist who was for many years both travel editor and aviation correspondent of the London Evening Standard. He spent a season as news commentator for the BBC Holiday Programme and is a former Travel Writer of the Year and Best Travel Writer on France. Roger is an independent member of the Civil Aviation Authority's advisory committee on consumer protection against airline and tour operator collapses. He researches and writes news for us at welove2ski.

Contributor: Max Hardy

The son of two of our three editors, Max's earliest memory is of terrorising the ski school of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, aged three. He spent his formative years tagging along on press trips in the mountains, dreaming of becoming the next Hermann Maier. Now 22, he spent last season working at the British Ski Academy in Les Houches and can also be found chasing the Europa Cup tour around the continent as a member of the British Ski Cross Team, with a world ranking of 257th. In his spare time, he writes features for us.

Contributor: Nicola Iseard

As soon as Nicola put on her first pair of skis in Austria, aged four, she had the bug. She soon got a taste for speed, and raced competitively, winning a bronze in the Super G at the All England Championships in SuperDévoluy aged 16. By 18, she had qualified as a BASI ski instructor, and spent a season teaching in Zermatt. Today, she combines her job as a travel journalist with her passion for the white stuff - she was the Ski Editor for the Daily/ Sunday Express for two years, writes regularly for The Guardian and The Observer, and plans to spend most of this winter season on the slopes writing stories - and skiing aplenty.

Contributor: Arabella Mileham

Discovering a late passion for skiing, Arabella enjoyed making up for lost time by ditching her sensible job in an auction house in London and spending three winters in the Alps. Bitten by the ski bug, she started to write features for a magazine in the Four Valleys and retrained as a journalist after returning to the UK. As well as writing about the mountains, she also paints them - as well as snowscapes, she does a fine line in children's portraits and windswept cattle.

Contributor: Colin Nicholson

Colin Nicholson started skiing at the tender age of two in Moscow's Lenin Hills at the height of the Cold War and hasn't stopped since. As a ski correspondent for all the dedicated ski magazines and for most of the national newspapers, he covers all aspects of the weird and wonderful life of the mountains. Despite being an avid downhill fan, he regularly takes a break from Alpine skiing to revisit his first experiences of the snow by donning cross-country skis.

Contributor: Leslie Woit

The editorial team goes green when Canadian Leslie Woit reminds them she was once the marketing director for Mike Wiegele Heliskiing - which involved being based permanently in one of his lodges in British Columbia. Since then she's carved out a niche for herself as one of wintersports most entertaining writers, and brings a lifetime's experience on skis to the subject. One summer she lived on the side of an Austrian Alp, learning how to be a milkmaid...
