Last season I did my last day of skiing on 12 May in Argentiere in Chamonix Valley. Most resort with skiing above 1500 in France are fine until mid-April. Then you need to go higher. Resorts with glacier skiing like Tignes or Les Deux Alpes where you can still ski in August give you 100% guarantee if that's what you like.

Definitely agree with Felice that even low intermediate can enjoy themsleves in the Chamonix Valley but you must pick the right area. Les Houches certainly has plenty to offer.

You could also try resorts where the Ski Club of GB are present. Flaine is one of them for instance.
